Is a plant-based diet really effective?

Is it effective?
Absolutely!
Before going on the plant-based diet, I had tried simply eating smaller portions and jogging every day. That was effective for a while, but when I got a new job and had trouble making time for jogging, I gained back all of the weight I had lost.
I also tried a shake-based diet. In that plan, they sold meal replacement shakes and supporting products like drink mixes. They also had a meal plan and recommended 6 small meals a day.
I had some success on this plan too. But then I plateaued after losing only a fraction of the weight I was trying to get rid of…
Now, please understand that I’m not opposed to either approach to losing weight. If you try either of those methods and they work for you, that’s fantastic! I simply mention my experiences with those diets as a contrast to show why the plant based diet was effective for me.
- First, I was able to lose weight on the plant-based diet without a lot of vigorous exercise.
- Second, I didn’t have to force myself to eat anything on the plant based diet. I based my meals around foods I already enjoyed.
- Third, I never plateaued on the plant-based diet. I consistently lost weight as long as I stuck with it.
- Last, the plant-based diet principles have allowed me to maintain my ideal weight, while reintroducing many of the foods I ate before starting the diet.
So, is it effective?
I’ve certainly seen great results ever since I started on the plant-based diet.
- I lost weight fairly quickly and kept it off.
- My health is better than it’s been in years.
- I weigh less in my mid 30’s than I did at 21.
- I’m wearing smaller clothes than I wore my senior year of high school.
- I feel fantastic and I have a lot more energy!
Best of all, I believe anyone else who follows a strict plant-based diet can experience these benefits as well!

Many diet programs fall short because they fail to address the whole person. That’s why the programs that work best address three things: making healthy food choices, exercising, and (most importantly) your mindset.
