How long does it take to start seeing results on a plant-based diet?
You could see a difference within the first couple of weeks…
When I was starting out on my plant-based diet, I committed to following it strictly for 30 days. I thought of it as a 30-day challenge, and I made myself stick exclusively to the plant-based diet for that first month.
I figured if I saw a difference, I would keep going. If not, I would go back to my old way of eating with no harm done.
As you can tell from my website, I quickly became a believer in the plant-based diet. After 30 days, I had lost over 10 pounds and I was feeling better than I had in a long time. I’d found a good rhythm with the types of foods I was eating, so I didn’t get bored and go back to my old eating habits.
Another huge help was the friends who saw the difference my new diet was making an encouraged me to keep going with it!
Now, not every month was an over 10-pound month. Some months I only lost a few pounds, but I ended up reaching my ideal weight after a year and a half. The funny thing about that is I initially set my goal at losing 60 pounds, but I breezed by that and ended up losing over 70 pounds and redefining my ideal weight!
You can do the same thing!
Will your results be exactly the same as mine? No.
You may discover you’re making even better progress, or you may find your first 10 pounds take a little longer to come off. Every body is different.
The important thing is making consistent progress towards your ideal weight and celebrating the milestones in between. I started out right around 245 pounds. When I dropped under 200 pounds, I was ecstatic!
You don’t hit a milestone like that and think, “I should have been here a month ago…”
You say, “Oh my gosh! I finally passed my biggest milestone yet! This is amazing!”
And it is amazing!
So are you!
From Day 1, when you commit to losing the weight. To Day 30, as you discipline yourself to eat right and start walking or exercising the pounds away. All the way to Day 180 or Day 365.
Until the day you finally hit your ideal weight and all your effort pays off!
