Finding Your Weight Loss Motivation...

Finding the motivation to get started on a diet (and stick with it) is essential when it comes to reaching your weight loss goals!

Today, I want to offer you an insight you won’t find with most other diet plans. You see, those plans will offer you the usual advice:

  • Eat this.
  • Don’t eat that.
  • And we’ll cover those things soon…

But what most of those plans won’t cover is the importance of finding your weight loss motivation: your reason Why.

Personal development legend, Jim Rohn, said, “Reasons come first, answers come second.” (Side note: Jim Rohn’s teachings can absolutely transform your life! I’ve included a link to a collection of his best insights below).

Your Why is what will get you through the hard times.

It’s the thing that will keep you going when the going gets tough.

It’s like a compass that keeps you moving in the right direction when distractions and temptations come. And they will!

As John Assaraf likes to say, “Your motivation is your motive for action!”

Here are some powerful ways to help you get started thinking about your own Why:

It could be External:

  • To be able to play with your kids (or grandkids) without getting winded.
  • To lose enough weight to get the knee surgery you need.
  • To fit into those clothes in your closet that hang there and haunt you because you either used to fit into them or you wish you could.
  • To be able to ride that new ride at the amusement park!

Or it could be Internal:

  • To feel confident about your body again.
  • To know that you look great in your favorite outfit!
  • To have more energy.
  • To stop feeling so self-conscious all the time.
  • To find a new sense of life and passion!
  • To prove to yourself (and others) you can do it!

Now, think about your own Why.

Fill in this blank: I want to lose weight so I can (blank). That’s your Why!

It’s the reason that will keep you going when you feel like giving up!

Think of it as your North Star. Let it give you a sense of direction and motivation so you can stay on course toward your goal.

Take your time while you think about your Why.

Don’t rush this part of your journey.

Too many people start a diet program without taking this step, and then give up because they lose sight of their reason for staying the course.

Don’t let that be your story.

Instead, decide today why you want to lose the weight. Make sure it’s something powerful and meaningful. Think about what a happier healthier life looks like for you.

Go ahead, dream a little!

  • What are you doing?
  • Where are you going?
  • Who are you with?

 That’s your Why.

Now, let’s get you there!
