When I became a teacher at 21, I envisioned spending my entire career in the classroom. Enthusiastic and energetic, I stayed on top of the latest educational trends and became a valued member of the international schools where I worked. However, as the years passed, younger teachers entered the field, and I realized I was no longer the fresh new face. With the strong demand for vibrant young educators in Asia, I foresaw challenges ahead in my teaching career. Despite my confidence in my teaching abilities, the push for new blood became increasingly evident.
Then, an unexpected opportunity arose. A school had just parted ways with their Head of Admissions who was very business-oriented. Management needed someone with a greater focus on, and understanding of, education. Although I had no experience in marketing, I secured an interview and convinced the school that my deep educational knowledge made me an ideal candidate. I demonstrated how my educational background would benefit the admissions process. The rest is history.
